ACU Volleyball Faces Defeat Against California Baptist
In a challenging match at Van Dyne Gym, the Abilene Christian University (ACU) volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat against California Baptist University (CBU). Despite leading in total kills with 58 compared to CBU's 42, ACU's efforts were overshadowed by their opponent's effective plays. Senior Ashli Edmiston stood out for the Wildcats, contributing 14 kills and moving up in the school's Division I career rankings for attack attempts. Both Aubrey Beaver and Hannah Gonzalez added 13 kills each, with Beaver also achieving double-digit digs. Freshman Hadlee Welch made notable contributions with a career-high eight kills. The match saw ACU rally back to win the second set 25-20 but ultimately fell short as CBU secured wins in the other sets, concluding with a 25-18 victory in the fifth set. ACU will look to regroup and finish their seven-match road trip against UT Arlington on October 4.
